Queenstown & surrounds

The adventure capital.
Every direction covered.

🏔️
Coronet Peak

New Zealand's most famous ski area and the closest to Queenstown, just 18 km from the airport. Coronet Peak is renowned for its night skiing (Friday and Saturday evenings), consistent snow, and spectacular views over the Wakatipu Basin. Season typically June to October.

From NZ$79 · ~20 min · 18 km north
❄️
The Remarkables

The Remarkables ski area takes its name from the dramatically jagged mountain range that frames Queenstown's southern skyline. The access road is steep and winding — in winter conditions a private transfer eliminates the stress of driving it in a rental car with unfamiliar conditions.

From NZ$89 · ~30 min · 28 km south-east
🏡
Arrowtown

The best-preserved gold rush town in New Zealand — Arrowtown's willow-lined main street, heritage stone buildings, and autumn colour display (April–May) draw visitors year-round. Millbrook Resort, with its Coronet Peak views and championship golf course, is just outside the village.

From NZ$69 · ~20 min · 21 km north-east
🏞️
Wānaka

Queenstown's quieter, more relaxed sister town sits on the shores of Lake Wānaka at the foot of the Southern Alps. Wānaka is the gateway to Cardrona Alpine Resort and Treble Cone ski areas, and the start of the Rob Roy Glacier, Diamond Lake, and Mount Iron trails.

From NZ$149 · ~60 min · 70 km north
🎬
Glenorchy & Paradise

The 45-minute drive north from Queenstown along Lake Wakatipu to Glenorchy is one of New Zealand's most scenic. Glenorchy and Paradise were filming locations for the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. The Dart River jet boat, Routeburn Track trailhead, and horse trekking make it worth the journey.

From NZ$99 · ~45 min · 45 km north
🛥️
Te Anau & Milford Sound

Te Anau is the gateway to Fiordland and Milford Sound — one of the world's great natural spectacles. The drive from Queenstown to Te Anau takes about 2.5 hours via the Southern Scenic Route. We transfer to Te Anau where passengers typically overnight before the Milford road journey.

From NZ$229 · ~2.5 hr · 170 km west

Ski season transfers

We get you to the snow
without the stress.

Why book a ski transfer?

The access roads to Coronet Peak and The Remarkables are steep, winding, and icy in winter. New Zealand rental car companies often restrict AWD vehicles on mountain access roads during snow conditions, and many require snow chains — which inexperienced drivers find stressful to fit.

A private transfer solves all of this. We drop you at the base lodge with your gear, you click in and ski. At the end of the day, we collect you — no frozen car, no chains, no driving tired on a mountain road in the dark.

During peak season (July–September), we strongly recommend pre-booking ski transfers at least 48 hours in advance. Weekend mornings during school holidays can be extremely busy and our vans fill fast.

Ski season at a glance

Coronet Peak opens mid-June and typically runs until mid-October. It's the only Queenstown ski area to offer night skiing — Friday and Saturday evenings until 9pm, and during school holidays. The 18 km drive from Queenstown takes about 20 minutes in summer, 25–30 in winter conditions.

The Remarkables has a shorter drive from the CBD but a steeper access road. The ski area is directly south across Lake Wakatipu, visible from Queenstown's waterfront — on clear days the mountain is spectacular from the airport approach.

Cardrona Alpine Resort and Treble Cone near Wānaka are 60–75 minutes from Queenstown Airport and offer a less crowded alternative to the main Queenstown ski fields. We service both on request.

Ski season booking: call +61 448 588 156 or book online at least 48 hours ahead.

Terminal information

Queenstown Airport
arrivals guide.

Single terminal — Frankton

Queenstown Airport is at Frankton, just 8 km from the Queenstown CBD — a 10-minute drive. The airport has a single terminal handling domestic Air New Zealand and Jetstar services, plus direct trans-Tasman flights from Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, and seasonal services from Singapore.

The terminal is compact and friendly. After collecting your bags, exit through the glass doors into the arrivals area where your driver waits with a name board. In winter, be prepared for cold temperatures immediately outside — have a jacket to hand before landing.

Note that Queenstown sits at 310 metres altitude in a mountain valley — winter temperatures can be significantly colder than coastal New Zealand cities. During heavy snowfall, some mountain access roads may briefly close for clearing. We monitor road conditions in real-time during ski season.

Frequently asked questions

Queenstown Airport
transfer FAQs.

Queenstown Airport at Frankton is approximately 8 km east of the Queenstown CBD. The drive takes about 10 minutes in normal traffic — making it one of the most conveniently located airports in New Zealand relative to its city centre.
Yes. Coronet Peak is approximately 18 km from the airport (~20 minutes) with transfers from NZ$79. The Remarkables is approximately 28 km (~30 minutes) with transfers from NZ$89. During ski season (June–October) we strongly recommend pre-booking at least 48 hours ahead — weekend morning demand is high. We carry ski equipment and accept oversized baggage including snowboards and ski bags.
Yes. Wānaka is approximately 70 km from the airport, taking about 60 minutes via the Crown Range Road (the more scenic and slightly shorter route) or about 75 minutes via Cromwell and SH6. The Crown Range route may be closed in severe winter weather — we monitor conditions and advise on the day. Transfers from NZ$149. We also service Lake Hāwea, Cardrona, and Treble Cone ski areas near Wānaka.
Yes. Glenorchy is approximately 45 km north along Lake Wakatipu (~45 minutes on the scenic lakeside road). Transfers from NZ$99. We also service Paradise, the Dart River jet boat departure point, and the Routeburn Track trailhead. Glenorchy is a popular base for Great Walks hikers — we carry tramping packs and large duffel bags.
Yes. Te Anau is approximately 170 km west of Queenstown Airport (~2.5 hours via SH6 and the Southern Scenic Route). Transfers from NZ$229. Te Anau is the gateway to Fiordland and the departure point for Milford Sound cruises. We transfer to Te Anau accommodation; the Milford Sound road itself is best experienced as a day tour from Te Anau. Call us on +61 448 588 156 to arrange.
Yes — Connectabus operates a service between the airport and Queenstown CBD (Athol Street). However during ski season with luggage and equipment, the bus is impractical for most visitors. The journey time is similar to a private transfer but the walk to and from bus stops with ski gear and bags is significant. For ski season arrivals, families, or passengers with heavy luggage, a private transfer is the straightforward choice at a modest premium over the bus.
