Wellington & region
New Zealand's capital.
Every precinct covered.
The Wellington CBD stretches from the waterfront to The Terrace and includes the Parliament precinct at Thorndon — the Beehive, Parliament Buildings, and the Parliamentary Library. Te Aro is the creative and café heartland. The compact, walkable city is New Zealand's cultural and political centre.
The Hutt Valley — Lower Hutt and Upper Hutt — stretches north along the Hutt River from Wellington Harbour. Lower Hutt is the Hutt City commercial centre; Upper Hutt is the greener, more suburban end of the valley. Petone's Jackson Street heritage strip is one of Wellington's most underrated destinations.
Paraparaumu, Waikanae, and Ōtaki on the Kāpiti Coast face the Tasman Sea and Kāpiti Island — a predator-free wildlife sanctuary. The coast is a popular commuter and holiday destination, approximately 55 km north of the airport via SH1. Kāpiti Island day trips operate from Paraparaumu Beach.
Martinborough — across the Remutaka Range from Wellington — is one of New Zealand's most celebrated wine villages, famous for Pinot Noir. The annual Toast Martinborough festival draws visitors from across the country. Greytown and Carterton are also on the Wairarapa wine trail.
Miramar, just minutes from the airport, is home to Weta Workshop and Weta FX — the world-renowned effects studios behind The Lord of the Rings, Avatar, and Planet of the Apes. The Weta Workshop Experience is one of Wellington's most popular cultural attractions. Miramar is the closest Wellington suburb to the airport.
Porirua — north of Wellington on the shore of Porirua Harbour — is home to Whitireia Polytechnic, Pataka Art + Museum, and the vibrant Pasifika communities of Cannons Creek and Waitangirua. Tawa is the gateway suburb connecting Wellington to the Kāpiti Coast via the motorway.
Government & corporate travel
New Zealand's Parliament.
Reliable every time.
Serving Wellington's government precinct
Wellington is New Zealand's seat of government — Parliament, Cabinet, the ministries, the courts, and the diplomatic corps are all here. For public servants, ministerial staff, diplomats, and business travellers with appointments in the Parliamentary precinct, punctuality is not optional.
Our drivers know every entrance to Parliament Buildings and the Beehive, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade on Lambton Quay, the Treasury, Statistics New Zealand, and the cluster of agencies along Bowen Street and The Terrace. We also service all embassy and high commission addresses throughout Thorndon and Kelburn.
Wellington is also New Zealand's windiest city. Strong southerly winds can occasionally affect road conditions on the airport approach and the Mt Victoria tunnel — we monitor conditions in real time and always allow buffer time for ministerial appointments.
- Parliament Buildings & Beehive — Molesworth St
- Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade — Lambton Quay
- Treasury & Finance — The Terrace
- Department of Prime Minister & Cabinet — Aitken St
- High Court & District Court — Ballance St
- Diplomatic missions — Thorndon, Kelburn, Karori

Terminal information
Wellington Airport
arrivals guide.
Single terminal — Rongotai
Wellington Airport is at Rongotai, approximately 8 km southeast of the Wellington CBD. The terminal is single and compact — after collecting your bags, exit into the arrivals hall where your driver waits with a name board. The airport is hemmed between Cook Strait hills, giving it one of the more dramatic approaches of any New Zealand airport.
Wellington is famous for its wind — the city sits at the southern tip of the North Island in the Cook Strait, the narrowest and windiest stretch of water between the North and South Islands. Strong southerlies can occasionally cause flight diversions to Palmerston North. If your flight is diverted, call us on +61 448 588 156 and we will coordinate accordingly.
Note that Miramar — immediately adjacent to the airport — is one of Wellington's most convenient suburbs for airport access. Miramar fares are among the lowest on the pricing table for this reason.
